Supporting healthcare workers with Giving to Services

Back

In the face of unprecedented global challenges, healthcare workers have emerged as the true heroes of our time. However, it is crucial to recognise the immense challenges they face, both personally and professionally.

Today, we are going to shed light on the invaluable contributions of healthcare workers and highlight the importance of supporting them.

Doctors, nurses, technicians, and support staff form the pillars of the healthcare system. Each role plays a crucial part in delivering quality care and ensuring the well-being of patients. Despite their critical mission, they often struggle financially.

Studies have shown that a significant percentage of nurses and healthcare workers feel underpaid compared to their counterparts in other countries. For example, in the UK, junior doctors currently start at £29,384, compared to £41,900 in the US.

Apart from that, the exposure to physical and emotional strain becomes part of their everyday reality. According to the RCN report, between 2018 and 2022, nearly 43,000 people aged 21 to 50 left the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) register. The fact that nurses, who are only a few years into their careers, are not only opting for early retirement but also leaving the NHS and the nursing profession altogether, is a cause for great concern.

It is vital to increase awareness about the financial challenges faced by healthcare professionals. At Giving To Services, we firmly stand with every member of the public sector. Our platform was specifically created with the purpose of supporting healthcare professionals in their time of need through decentralised finance.

Public service workers in the Giving To Services community receive 4% of released rewards from SVS holders. GTS aims to recognise and financially support public service workers who deserve financial stability.
